Hey Friends,

The first version of Text To Speech (TTS) is live! We’ve been wanting to add TTS for a long time now and it’s finally here!

In your campaigns, you’ll notice now that you can click on Franz’s avatar which will play the audio for that message:

You also have the option to automatically play the audio from Franz for each new message in the campaign settings:

We’re very excited to get this update out to everyone and hear what you think! We’re always working to provide as much value as we can to you, so this level of TTS is completely unlimited for all subscription plans, but does require a subscription to use.

This is also just the beginning and first release for voice related features. In the future we currently have the following features planned which you can upvote on the roadmap:

• Speech to Text: Play with your voice.

• Select different voices for your Gamemaster

• Select voices for Characters

• Create your own custom voices

• TTS multilingual support for languages other than English

Other Improvements & Changes

• We’ve updated the UI on the campaign play screen on desktop and mobile devices. The left sidebar is now collapsable on desktop, and there’s more room for messages on mobile.

• If you initially created your account using magic link, you can now also link a Google account to your Friends & Fables account.

• Hiding unknown entities is now off by default when starting a campaign, if you wish for characters and locations to remain unknown until you discover them, you can turn the setting back on under campaign settings.

• Number of world slots for free players increased to 12.

• Fixed bug where text would repeat itself in a message when using italics

Narration 1.1 → 1.1.1

• Adjusted narration during rolls so that NPCs are not aware of the rolls

• Skill check DCs are now more varied depending on the situation

• Reduces the amount of instances where the narration will speak or act for a player character (If you get this - please report it to us!)
