Combat v3.0.1

Thank you all for the bug reports after we released Combat v3, they were super helpful in making this round of improvements.

Smarter NPCs and Monsters

We rewrote the way NPCs and Monsters are handled. Previously, they had to pick their movement + attack in one shot. Sometimes their attack wouldn’t work because they’d still be out of range. We’ve rewritten NPCs and Monsters to be agentic, meaning they have access to move and attack tools, and can choose to use them in any order, and in multiple steps. Now, NPCs can do things like move, attack, move again.

Reasoning

We’ve now expose Franz’s thinking. By default, it’s collapsed so it won’t clog up the message screen, but you can click it open to see what Franz was thinking. This way if an NPC does something unexpected, you can tell if Franz had the wrong information, or if the NPC had a motivation you did not expect.

We also fixed a lot of bugs listed below!

Improvements

  • Use NPC's modifiers when rolling for an NPC instead of the user's character [Bug Report by Jingo, Feb1,2025]

  • Death events and completed encounters are now saved to memories

  • Made editing long messages smoother on mobile.

  • You can now clear factions from characters / locations.
