PROBLEMS
so im relitivly new to this site however a common issue i keep coming into when building my campaign is what is read by the AI and what isnt (for some not all as the lorebook for example does this well and clearly tells you)
a good example of this is the quest system when you try to build the a quest i often cant figure out if the quest is the description for players to read/public description or a discription for the AI needs to read to understand what your talking about. if it wasnt for my quick learning through visaul testing and problem solving with my autsim (and yes im going to openly admit that becasue where im from a lot of people often discrinamte against people like me for not being “normal” even though normal is predictable which in a battle field is a dangerurs behavour to have because you turn into just another target practis target on the battle field) i dont think i would have catched onto how things work. maybe some tutorials like how yodayo does it (make a visaul gif of what to do and some text describing it and letting you refer back to it whenever you need it when your stuck). i know you have the documant that tells you about the features which is one part of the the tutorial concept the can work which is a good start but the problem is if you want to know about a spisific feature there and than that the document doesnt talk about than how are you able to know about (a example of this is the paths of the quest. i couldnt tell if they were the next step in terms of the next section of the quest or the thing the AI says to describe whats going on. it was until i used the generator to see what it could create that than i realised its the player actions the player can do to progress to the next part of the quest). i have had multiple time ive catched myself looking at other peoples work to understand what any of the features mean and to exsacly create some stuff like characters
SOLUTION
what you could do is add a side by or expand the question marks more to have a meun that appears that visally and textually shows what this feature does. (also when i press the question marks on my phone nothing happens so im not sure if thats a mobile bug or nothings suppose to happen but its worth mentioning incase its a bug) in other words, use the document you have as a means for people to learn all of the features in their past time and use the side bar pop up menu feature as a way to learn indivisual features there and than when users are creating a campaign. do note i do have short term memory lost at times (still trying to figure out how it works but i think it has something to do with my complex adhd so this problem might not happen to everyone however im not sure)
PROBLEM TWO
large scale projects… the character limit is no where near enough for the campaigns im trying to build (when you have a big imagination so you want to create projects but your autism makes you hyperfixate on something so you end up making massive projects like combining every universe into one dnd game you run into problems like this a lot). now i dont know the reason why the limit is small (likely being preformance issues due to ether low budget or low end equipment which ive notice is a common occurance in projects like this which is understandable so this request could a future feature fotr long term goal when you guys have more staff and better equipment) but i can offer a balance between all of it because when i tried making a death angel from the quiet place the limit wasnt enough for the appearance to begin with and thats for a small creature combared to the asari i plan to add which have a complex culture and socitety. i suggest 10 000 being the maximum and 1000 being the minime with a good balance being in between so 5000 for all of the limits. that gives you plently of characters. (another thing is the lorebook, i know you said it will be able to have the AI to read it at a more later date or update/next update which i kind of hope that this problem maybe get fixed however it wold still be better for the limit to be inceased so people doing large scale campaign like me can still get the important details out while also not leaving out any vital details needed so the notes in the lorebook can add the rest). it would also allow for advanced creatures being created.
PROBLEM 3
orginastion is another problem ive come across as when you are going to have tons of creatures for different quests spisificly or areas that wont spawn in any other areas it kind of gets annoying trying to find that one creature out of a thousand that have nothing to do with it. maybe make folders like you have done in the lorebook to allow quick access to the creatures you need for something like a quest in a biome without having to scroll through hundreds of monsters before acidently missing it. it just makes large scale projects a little easier
PROBLEM 4
multiple maps. now i dont know all of the features or dont understand them so i dont know if this is already in the programing or not but something ive been trying to do is make multiple maps like one for the planet surface while another for the planets orbit and than another for the galaxy without having a player just telaport from the planet surface to a halo space station because its on the same grid. maybe have a way where you can go a certain requirment met like bording a space ship to unload one map and load the space map so they dont interfere with the other POI in the two seprate maps
REMINDER FOR THE DEVELOPERS
not feedback but more supprt as again, what you guys and girls have done here is awesome. ive looked and tons of different AI’s and not one of them have let you actually play dnd like roll a d20 dice for perception check to pass something instead of the AI just stright up going “yeah you win every time”. you can actually loose. you can have a plan in mind and it can fail. barely any AI does that. and this is only in beta so when this is completle single player dnd because no different from multiplayer dnd which when you dont have a lot of friends or the friends you do have looses interest fast it makes playing dnd really diffacult and doing something as a group when you got no group but an ai (yes i live a sad life, but at least my tears can keep dessert thirsty (that was a joke btw :] )) keep up the good work team
PROBLEM 5
encounters. ok this is likely a bug but when i encounter a enemy most of the time the encounter doesnt occur and instead im acting out the battle instead of fighting it. at first i thought this was intentional until i actually had a encounter after finishing my “fight” and realiesed that the AI forgot the playing part (though it was funny as hell taking on an entire town being hit but never taking damage for only a big slimy christmas tree one shot me in a encounter for that whole thing to be for all for nothing.). also during that enocunter i kdinaped a enemy but the ai said i did but the elf keep shooting me even though he was supposed to be on my shoulder so making the attack options a little easier would be better instead of typing out my actions for it to only not work to the battle eyes. this is likely a bug but it still funny to think about
PROBLEM 6
vehicles. ok while its funny as hell seeing the entirety of south east aisa in the players inventory or buildings like forts for the players camp since theres no way to you know, have a camp thats your base that stays their or have an entire USA army tank supply in your inventory because you need a vehicle or horse but will likely loose it on the next turn because the AI forgot about it, it still needs its own feature to fix that problem. maybe in your party you can have a location where you can select to set up a camp or a area dedicated to vehicles or horse/mount the the player can keep or travel with like a item you equip however it has its own drop down menu of all of the avalible things you can ride instead of it being in your inventory.
PROBLEM 7
the inventory slot thing doesnt really work as when i click or press on it it doesnt do anything. i believe one time it showed what i could equip on the left arm and stuff but idk because that hasnt happened again. it just feels a little mis opitunity to make things more efficint if you have a large inventory how are you going to find what you want and what you dont want to equip when you basiclly see everything in the world in your inventory (yres im a loot goblin, and i just love to think every time i trade with someone they littarly see me open a infident bag and pull out one of every thing in exsistance. some random rock, an entire country, one of every sword ever been invented, a bloody universe, god him self. yep i got it. and im keeping it for not reason expect it could be useful later and when it does it takes a while to find it. honestly its not the developers fault its more on my hording happen but still, something that could be thought off in the future after its full release)
PROBLEM 8
stock piling on credits. to be fair i kind of understand why this isnt already a feature as you kind of need to make money somehow so if this request gets rejected thats kind of fair. so when i finally used by my daily cedits after half a month or something (it was actually like a week but felt longer due to how little time i have to use this AI when im not doing testing) and when i did i had to wait another day to get more. it just kind of felt a little pointless not being able to stockpile on credits with the daily credit among becaus ei rarely used it due to me making the rimworld Campaign so when i actually had time to check how the ai works (ussally to see how the AI responds to stuff or seeing if what ive built works) i barely use any and when im not (which is a lot) a lot of days past when i could have been getting credits in the mean time instead of using them and than having to wait instead of having it ready already or being able to stockpile on it. but when i looked at your subscription thing it kind of made sense why you cant do this so you guys can still fund the AI development instead of having people exploit a way around the need for credits by just stockpiling on them leaving them to have like millions when they do start using the AI
SUGGESTIONS
events. for anyone that has played rimworld would know where this is going. so i think it would be cool to have events or random encounters in the game that the dungion master can add from time to time during the user exploration. now i mean something different from the battle enocunters already in the code, im meaning like whether events or say a battle is happening in the sky above with space ships so missed shots or wreckage lands on the planet or areas near the user. these events could happen if the user revisits a POI late into the game or happen on the way to a POI or just randomly after doing day to day stuff. another i think would be cool is spesify what you can and cant do with the AI, and im not talking about how you can like make porn with the AI or stuff like (aka censorship limitations) im meaning stuff that you as the character cant do because its just not in the code such as joining a faction (do note i havent tried that yet but i dont know which is a perfect example on why it should be in the description or maybe it is and i just missed it. there are so many possiblitys and only 300 of them has a answer with data off of it). or maybe being able to start your own civilisation or become a king from the ground up. just add a little more clarity for what is possible and what isnt. also can you have it where the AI reacts to you have nothing equipped as when you see that you have nothing equipped in the AI or npc eyes that means your naked or something. just a small detail
BIG PROBLEM
the fact that you can give yourself any item in the middle of a game or change anything in the middle of the game is a big problem for multiplayer (do note as i stated i dont really play much multiplayer so i dont know if its different but im just assuming it isnt). i think a way to counter that is add a toggle that lets you modify things mid game like change relashionship with npc from hating you to being your partner before you even started your next action. this could be debugging mode maybe or something that could be there for only the creator to change incase they need to.
GUIDE SUGGESTION
another thing you could work on is how you can do things (such as recruit a npc to your party or join a faction if you can) as apart from bascilly doing this AI versions of video game console commands to change it i dont know how you can do that i have a feeling you ask it to and the AI says the npc joined but when you check your party they arent their. so maybe tell in that document on how you can do that stuff or what you have to say
MODERN/SCI FI OPTIONS
now the kind of Campaign im trying to build has three sections (like a video game progression system): surface (which is medievial stuff), orbital (which is futuristic and end game stuff on a sperate map), and ocean (which is like a more modern and piratey thing). now im aware dnd is meant to be a medieval game (or at least thats what its commonly known for) but a little more options on creatures or aliens other races not in the medival time frame would be kind of cool. (to clerify im meaning when monster creation. something maybe where you can make your own would probebly be a better long term one or being able to select your own custom built races like you can as a character instead of using what is given to you. if it already does that than :O.)
HAVING OTHER THINGS SEPATE FROM MONSTER
now my campaign has a bit of star wars in it as well and in star wars there is a lot of droids that are designed to be in the background doing casual tasks. from what i can see they are ether: A, a monster you fight, or B, a completly different race when in reality that are part of a race just a variant of that race. it doesnt really make sensse to make a npc dedicated to itss own story and being reused in the background a lot for it to onyl appear once, exsist, or potentally become expendable cannon foder. plus the ai would treat it has if it was talking to the main characters instead of just another once of character. it just would make sense to have something as a background npc creation instead of having them forced be forced to fight the user or exsist with this whole backstory that isnt really useful for its purpose because its not designed to be a character its designed to be a prop or something like that. that way you can seperate say droid that do have a backstory and are a ligitmit character because in POI tht would make a little more sense in say a tavern but in a factory we could be looking at hundreds of droids that were just made. [anyone reading this knows how to do something simular that would be appresiated]
HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADD YOUR OWN CUSTOM ACTIONS FOR THOSE WHO ARENT SIDE CASERS
so say your race is a jedi or your class is a commander and you want to call for reinforcments. both of these options arent sidecasting so it wouldnt make sense to need a spell to say do something basic as ducking for cover because if your a spell caser it would kind of feel disappointing to learn the ability to do something you should already know how to do. maybe the custom actions could be learned through reading books or leveling up certain skills like pickpoket for stealth (however i think its already in the code just not visable to the user until the situation is give so i could be wrong however the concept is something to be considered for say a seprate tree maybe for other abilites such as force powers as your cant really get the force in star wars until you are born with it so reading a book to now all of a sudden be able to force chock someone wouldnt make too much sense but thats kind of a smaller thing compared to larger part of the community)
ABLE TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO FIGHT SPACESHIPS OR SOMETHING THAT ISNT YOU FIRING A BOW AT A ENEMY
when you try and have a space battle the ai thinks your fighting squirrl is the best way to describe it. liek what is your bow going to do against the death star for example. its not going to take damage but the AI doesnt see it like that. maybe user could have a chance to use their own space ship using the vehicle system i mention to have a spaceship battle maybe or use something other than your bare hands against something your not really meant to be fighting with your bare heads but like another thing simular to it (granted halo kind of disproves my point so… yeah, redundent idea in a way but maybe a vehicle could deal more damage maybe that makes you actually stand a chance like it was a standed battle)
AMMO CATERGORY
just adds a little qulity of life change when you are making a item for your arrows however im pretty sure gear does that already but a catergory dedicated for it would make it a little better incase you want to switch from a stone arrow to a fire arrow for example
overall the site may be confusing but its brilliant and still has it potental for helping out dnd become more fun for both the dungion master and other players that dont know whats going to happen. keep up the good work :}
