I’m working with a massive world map, and a few things that have come up so far that would greatly improve the visual experience:
Area Label Hierarchy, Location and Sizing: I have a Nation, then multiple regions, then areas or cities within those regions. All are using the “area” system. Sometimes these overlap, cover, or otherwise intrude on each other or map images. If you could have a heirarchy system, which shows which should be the “top level” area, and so on, with decreasing font sizes that would be helpful. But the ability to manual edit or place these would also be great, since I have some “seas” that cover ¾ of a coastline of a island nation, this means the label is placed smack in the center of the landmass rather than out of on the water.
POI Icons - With so many POI’s an iconography system for them would be very helpful. There are dozens of POI’s in a smaller area, all owned by the same faction, so it would be nice to be able to add a anchor, beer, market stall etc icon to the poi to help differentiate better with a quick glance.
Region boundaries - It would be nice to be able to identify a shared boundary between two regions, to get a nice clean line for the border without having to zoom in and move dots around constantly.
