After playing a campaign in the Redemption world, I don’t I’m going to keep it going any longer. Right now there is too much hand-holding you have to do with Franz.
- He invented new NPCs for the people I was literally with. I had to always update his messages with the character ids of the existing NPCs. Wish this could be better.
- He had no concept of where things really were in the world (although I tended to ignore the map). Maybe that was due to map setup and distances or not. Generating new POIs for things we were already nearby. When I say I’m going in to the store, I mean the one that is literally right in front of me, not a new POI called ‘The Store’. I had to change location almost every time to make sure we were in the right spot, moving the NPCs as well, and deleting POIs he created.
- There is sometimes too much for him to keep track of that a human GM wouldn’t forget. Prior NPC interactions, relationships with other NPCs, etc. that the current interface just doesn’t support. I tried to keep things in either context blocks, or direct him to a lore page with prior interactions to keep things easy for him, but he still seemed to not look at that stuff.
- The 2 encounters I did with wild west combat were wildly awkward, with AC that were super high for some bad guys that never missed.
- For small scenes it did work, but anything with more than 3-4 people seemed to be too much.
I could see this be good for a one-shot. But a longer campaign, I’m not sure at the moment, as there was just too much I needed to correct after ever Franz message.
