Franz will not rewrite message according to what I say

So, I'm playing in the Dirkshire steampunk world. I'm playing a Ranger class, but given that I can't have custom items yet, I didn't give my character any items at all. Nevertheless, in role-play combat, Franz insists I'm shooting with a bow and arrow, even when I flat out tell him he is incorrect, that I'm using a gun, and that I'm in the steampunk genre, and that he needs to rewrite the message. After multiple tries, I eventually give up. Yes, I know I can rewrite it to be what I want, but Franz shouldn't be this stupid.
