Franz architecture is atrocious

My first experience was a couple of free sessions in Odrun Fell, on another device/account, which were enjoyable enough to make me register and pay for the Starter subscription so I could start a campaign with my own character.

Started in Faladrim, as I figured the most played world would also be less buggy. No complaints, it was an enjoyable experience until the first combat (please note that on the free account I already had three encounters and didn’t face any issue).

We start on the wrong foot, Franz is narrating rolls that I did not make, asking me to roll a non-existent roll button, doesn’t update the map and characters positioning, doesn’t give me enemy details.

I manage to reset the encounter and start over. Same situation, an ambush I set up, but this time I get to roll for initiative, the button is there. After the roll, something bugs again.

I manage again to make him understand what’s the moment to which we should reset and restart the encounter. Another initiative roll, but this time we get to have some proper turns. There’s an issue with my rogue’s sneak attack. I prompt Franz (I did post this episode via the Report a bug system, won’t go through all the details again) and realize he can’t do math. But that’s not the only, nor the most concerning issue.

• he cannot keep track of an encounter’s episodes, can’t say who did how much damage (he ended up asking me whether I could review the UI and let him know)

• he cannot explain his logic, just ignores and resets (at a certain point he was deducting a damage roll from three members of my party, including myself, after I had attacked an enemy - when questioned about the reason, he just refilled the HP; within a couple of prompts he did the same thing again)

• he cannot remember that I don’t want the automatic system rolls he keeps offering

• he says he doesn’t have access to earlier events (not campaign events, but the earlier rolls from this single encounter), yet he makes up a non-existing attack on the fourth member (last in initiative roll, never got to act, found out she was at 1HP, questioned him why)

• he keeps apologizing and tries to make up to you, but never gives coherent or detailed answers

I couldn’t find a sense of logic about his build, yet there’s a certain flavour of “always please the player“, this is what worries me most. One could argue that all LLMs out there have this mentality entrenched deep within, in order to create some sort of addiction, but Franz is the dumbest in absolute. Mind that I’m not blaming Franz himself, but the architecture within. I can understand that F&F is in early development, as well as Franz. However, my take is that the developers should address the fractured blueprint early on, right now Franz is taking the heat for someone else’s incompetence
