When these actions are exhausted, the character may become tired. In this case, they will receive a "tired" debuff. For example, a penalty to rolls. Fatigue accumulates, increasing the penalty. Eventually, the character will collapse, which can lead to unpleasant consequences. To compensate for fatigue and restore some energy, you can take a short rest twice before a long rest. A long rest is required for a full recovery. If the character doesn't have enough food to take a long rest, they will receive a hunger debuff, which reduces their maximum energy level.
