As a worldbuilder I often want to test out how strong my characters, monsters, and spells actually are, to avoid making things that are OP or underpowered. However, doing this is currently a pain because of how slow everything is being processed (Franz insisting on narrating everything, then insisting on making my character/party make actions when I just want to see two creatures or NPCs duke it out).
I propose to create a special playtest mode for this purpose: give the player the options to spawn creatures / place characters without telling the LLM to do so, then use a minimalist LLM that does little/no narration, but just “plays” both creatures or NPCs, choosing what they do on each turn.
This will be much cheaper in terms of server costs, and much faster and easier for playtesting combat.
Also I can see this being used for combat outside of playtesting as well. Not every little NPC action has to be meticulously narrated after all.
