Factions need to be more detailed and overhaul is needed. A drop-down list(s) could be provided similar to how Points of Interest on a map have a drop-down list. On this list, there would be a selection of what kind of faction is it. For some examples, if the faction is a government, users can specify what kind of government, like if it is a Unitary Presidential Republic, federal Presidential Constitutional Republic/representative democracy, theocratic absolute monarchy kingdom, unitary one-party republic under an totalitarian dictatorship, autocratic empire, etc. If the faction is a company, this list could make it easier to specify what kind it is, what it’s industry is, and how big it is, like is the company a small family business, a multinational conglomerate, a PMC, an interstellar megacorporation, etc. These are just some examples that could be done if a drop-down list is provided. If something on the list isn’t present, then users can simply type in what kind of faction they want in the list and enter it as a custom one like POIs do on the map.
Providing a editable scale with detailed notes would make the relationships between other factions and individuals would make it far more engaging and would save writing space for those with word limits. Would give a hierarchy to factions with who is in charge of or part of what within a faction. It would also better shape how people feel ad relate to the factions, such if they like them or hate them. It would also be good to have an alliance system integrated, showing who is sided with who against what and why. Monsters should also able to operate for or against certain factions. For an exaggerated example: A United States Marine from World War 2 should not attack characters and players that are sided with the United States of America faction, but should be able to attack characters and enemies who side with the Germans. Similarly, while this United States Marine should be against those sided with the Soviet Union during the Cold War era, they should be smart enough not to attack immediately as to avoid a diplomatic incident within the narrative.
