Equipment not in inventory

As I prepared to leave the house for an adventure, I asked the Franz to find items to fill the empty equipment slots. He said I gathered several items from my residence but they are not (yet?) equipped.

Perhaps make an exception denying users trying to obtain additional items based on their background or provide starting level 1 items?
