Adding mentions to Edits

Can we have the edit system use the same or atleast have it have a similar suggestion/dropdown you get when doing the at symbol in your own messages to reference a particular location or object, essentially helping linking or reference something specific without knowing the link address.

Alternative idea/Might be easier?;
To export the contents of the editing message to your normal input bar but the next submit after hitting edit it dumps the value/raw link form of message to the old message’s value. Maybe a down arrow icon with a line under it as a 2nd form of editing button or icon under the pen edit.
