Dynamic Character Tokens for Transformations & Gear Changes

I just want to say I love what you all are building. The world-building tools and AI DM experience are amazing, and it’s been really fun experimenting with custom campaigns.

I had an idea I wanted to throw out there, especially for creators who build themed worlds or any system where characters can transform or visually evolve during play. Not sure how complicated it would be or if something could even be implemented into this. Since it is mainly for visual appearance.

Would it be possible in the future to allow character tokens to change dynamically based on in-game triggers, like:

  • Transformations (e.g., a Saiyan turning Super Saiyan)

  • Equipped items or gear changes (e.g., armor, robes, battle suits)

  • Story or form shifts (e.g., cursed form, disguise, or damage state)

Basically, the idea is for creators to link multiple image tokens to one character, and have the system automatically swap or let the player manually toggle between them — maybe through a command like /transform or a menu button.

Like maybe there could be a tap on the character sheets so we could add in custom images of what the transformations would look like even!

⚙️ Why It’d Be Awesome

  • Immersion: Seeing your token actually change when your character powers up or puts on new armor would add so much to the storytelling and cinematic flow.

  • Customization: World builders could assign “token states” to match conditions or dialogue triggers.

  • Flexibility: Even a manual swap option would be great!

    Implementation Thoughts

Not sure how complex this would be under the hood, but even something lightweight like:

    • “Token Variants” tab on the character sheet

    • /swapToken [variantName] or “Transform” button

    • Optional link to equipped gear items
