Can't move NPC in world edit map view

While throwing together a world, I am trying to create and position a few NPCs. Using the move “Move character” button in the map view, I click where I want to play the NPC. It fails with an error in the top right.

I look in the web console and found this 3 copies of this error message:

I took a break recently and only just came back. So unfortunately I don’t know if this was caused by the May 9 update.
