Often, new NPCs are generated without a name, labeled only as "Bandit", "Mysterious Traveler", "Drunken Wizard" and so on. However, the game allows sparing nameless enemies and weaving them into the story, just like background characters, eventually assigning them proper names.
As a result, when an NPC receives an unique name, all memories formed before this introduction become obsolete or require manual editing. For example, the memory "Player defeats Rampaging Orc" won’t be considered relevant when "Zakrog The Berserk enters the room", unless Franz has a really good grip on a context.
Given the uniqueness of such nicknames, it makes sense to give NPCs two equivalent forms: one with the alias provided by the game master, and another with their true name once it is revealed. Any of them can be used for reference.
Another reason to add an alias profile entry is to allow players to enrich the narrative by mentioning familiar characters or addressing them in creative ways without confusing Franz.
