So I finally set up the world, characters and influences for the game to run off. I feel as though ChatGPT oddly handled the information a bit better, although everything is specified. I noticed a few times during playtest that the chat won’t completely look at NPC character sheets at time too.
A few suggestions in case World Building inclusion gets better.
Add a Factions Tab. So we can see or set who’s with what, their purpose and views. I set characters up with influences and certain locations to show that influence but having a tab could be useful.
Can we get the choice to hide classes we make? I made certain characters, “Monsters” because they don’t necessarily fit a class being chosen, deities or something special. Now I haven’t seen any instances yet where they pull from the “Monster” tab to use the NPCs per say but I’m also not sure how they use the custom monsters yet.
Add a tab on the character sheet for Features and traits.
Add Saving Throws by default to characters or classes, if you want us to select it that’s fine but it’s useful.
Should Factions become a thing, add a selector that let’s us select what Faction they’re in from the character sheet.
Now DMing…
So far from what I’ve been through thus far in my playtest. The DM needs work. The system has really cool things going for it, being able to have a Map, a section for NPCs, setting up areas, and lore of those areas. Having AI generate based on description and really cool inclusion but I think all of this needs to work with the map that is set up. I could set specific PoI’s for certain areas but either way, the DM should be able to use the map as well as characters, without being reminded.
A few other things on my mind
the DM has a hard time with storytelling and keeping things focused, this can cause many things to become derailed incredibly easy. Some story beats felt like I was going back and forth between two places for the same reason multiple times making it feel like I was going in circles.
Combat… there is a lot desired for combat
spellcasters using spells they shouldn’t have access to.
Some unnecessary rolls for certain actions.
Some creatures, NPC’s or whatever not showing up.
When NPCs are nearby, they stand motionless not aiding in an encounter.
This could be more general but interactions from NPCs or party member specific need to be there through the DM
These are a few things I could think off the top of my head but currently, for single player of a smoother experience. I still think ChatGpt has it down but I see the potential of this being better, especially with the multiplayer inclusion.
