Wrong dice being rolled for damage

I’m trying to roll damage for my magical long sword. I have the savage attacker feat but when I select damage and d8 to roll damage then I select advantage (savage attacker) and add my damage bonus (+3 for the magic weapon) it has my strength bonus already. However it rolls d20’s not d8’s for damage each time.
