Why I Am Quitting

I have been using Friends & Fables for about a month. I paid for the basic so that I could have unlimited actions. It has been nothing but frustration. I am just a normal person, no programming background or anything like that.

The is why I am quitting:

1) I want a game, not collaborative storytelling
- A game has winners and losers. It is something you can lose. Something you can die in. There is risk. None of that exists here. A game I am pre-ordained to win with a DM that bends over backwards to ensure I win is boring.

2) I want limits.
- Franz gives you exactly what you want. “What does the message say?” The message says, “congratulations you are now King” Franz reacts, “wow congratulations that is quite a message”

3) I want a created adventure, not a “streaming” adventure.
- Franz creates a “dungeon” but only first room. You go to the second room and Franz asks “what do you find?” No. Franz should be telling me what I find. But he always wants to know what I want so he can give me what i want. He creates nothing beyond what is in front of me.
- Franz needs to create dungeon map, or a floor plan BEFORE I enter. He needs to populate it BEFORE I start to search.

4) Memories are completely ineffective.
- There is zero consistency. Franz doesn’t “remember” details at all.
- There needs to be 2 types of Memory, short-term and permanent. (when I tell Franz something character-specific it should have a permanent Memory, not transient)

5) Everything is epic
- First level character gets stuck hearing the “Thrumming deep within the earth” and then that is all you hear no matter how much you edit or ignore.
- There is no such thing as a “self-contained” dungeon. There is always a fissure or something that leads beyond.

6) No “standard” D&D monsters
- Despite my efforts, Franz always wanted to introduce custom, home brew monsters.

7) Highly Limited Tropes / Repetition
- The same themes are constantly repeated
- The Silver Locket
- Elara, Thorne - repetitive names
- Thrumming Crystals

There are other annoyances, but not that would make me quit.

That isn’t to say what has been done isn’t impressive. It is, and given 3 years, it might be to a standard where I can play it.

My expectation, which may be unfair, is to have Franz, create a small module on demand. Non-interactive map making, dungeon population, adventure creation has existed online for 10 years. Why can’t Franz not use that same type of building and outlining and then add the interactivity?

I don’t want to tell the story TO Franz, I want Franz to create the story and let me interact WITH it (which can still be sandbox).
