a feature i think would be great and could open a lot of new possiblites is the ability to make your own custom curses that could effect the player character in different way. some offer a bonus while others at a first glance offer a bonus but secretly is debuff (a great example is this werewolf curse i made: The werewolf curse is a curse given to people by a bite from another werewolf ether disguised as a regular wolf or the form of a true werewolf. What the curse does is makes the host turn into a humanoid wolf at a full moon increasing the hosts speed, strength and sense of smell while being able to see in the dark with a red tined view of view. While the host gets given the body of a wolf temporarily the long term side effects become the downfall of the victim as the longer the host is a werewolf the more aggressive and vicious they become driven by the thirst for blood. These effect start to become noticeable after 3 months of infection as sudden outburst of anger to injured creatures sometimes take control. After 5 months the victim is unable to control there own body and will go on a slaughter spree if the curses bloodlust is not satiated and will even attack close family members of the victim. After 8 months the curse has progressed enough to take these effect to happen even when not transferred. After 12 months the curse has fully take over the host and they become a feral beast driven by the thirst of blood) these curses could be a permenant debuff to the player that they must ether do a quest to remove or cast a spell for less powerful curses to remove the curse. these curses could also mix between abilites from different races such as be cursed with the ability to breath underwater but they cant breath on land. think of curses as a advantage and a debuff that need certain conditions to be met (for the werewolf curse it could only be cured by transferring the curse to someone else through powerful magic or physically removing the infected organ or limb that was bitten during early intervention within a 5 week time frame with 5 weeks being too late as the curse has spread across the whole body). curses could also solely negitive stats like giving you a permanete -4 on a certain stat like straigth (in other words say you have 8 straigth but you have a curse that takes away 3 of your straigth meaning you only have 5 straigth) for smaller less powerful curses that you get from a enemy casting a spell or a possitive curse like say the curse of the blessing which gives you a better stat on a random stat because you were “blessed by the gods” or something. this also opens a lot more oppitunity for items having curses like ancient artifacts that players could steal but they get a warning that the artifact is cursed which could would change the way they play by ether having a small curse of lowering their stats or have a massive curse to have regular guardians of that item attack the player. these curses condition on being removed could be by having the player return the artifact to the place they got it from. curses could also be custom curses letting players make their own curses from scratch
custom level stat system. so im trying to make psycasting from rimworld in my multifverse inspired rimworld and anyone that plays rimworld knows psycasting is a seprate stat entirely with its own level (kind of) system. i think it would be awsome to let playing make their own secret level system that is sperate from other level systems. for example, have a sprate spell like psycasting where it needs a item to unlock with the higher the level in say psycasting like how the higher level you have in charisma lets you convince people easier but say with psycasting the higher the level the more spells you unlock in psycasting. think of it as a spreate spell system but say a wizard cant use something like psycasting unless they have unlocked it so its two completly different magic thing if you will to not conflict with other level systems. this will also solve a lot of problems ive notice that has appeared in the spells on other worlds where you want to create a custom action but you cant so people make spells that arent really magic and more of basic actions like jump or use a cannon. having something seprate from that would be better than learning a spell looking into your spell book exsited what magical abilitys you have to only be disappointed to see that you have learned the ability to… talk
