Cloning of items

I recall being able to clone items. But that functionality is no longer available. Why was it removed? For example, the Unarmored Defense (Monk) is not wearable, thus it cannot apply the dex and wis bonuses to affect my current AC. Previously I could clone it, fix it be wearable.
