So I've been subbed at the highest tier for a month now and I've played a ton, and in a ton of different worlds and I have a lot of feedback, and also keep in mind that some of the things I'll talk and complain about will be things that is the AI’s fault, and some will be the creators of the worlds faults, but I think at the end of the day they should be said anyways.
So starting off, it feels like it's much better at staying in track with a universe and world the more well known the franchise or universe is broadly on the internet. I played in general DND fantasy and it did great, I also did ReZero, Warhammer 40K, and others and it did great. The moment I tried Overlord (The anime) and some lesser known series it had problem after problem staying on track. It struggled to consistently grasp the difference between levels in Overlord Vs DND, and it had problems reconciling the differences of half the mechanics in the world being Game like and half being somewhat realistic. It also had moments were it was excellent understanding characters, and then immediately butchered what they would have acted like the next second. If it was possible to link wiki pages of different worlds and important information that's relevant to Franz when a world is created so it can stay on track that would be by far the best, so it can always prioritize the lore before all else
Another thing, because it can't create races or classes, it's only locked into making what it can with what's available, because of this, you can ask it to create a character established in a setting, and it can assign the wrong race and classes or even completely make different characters and act like it was still making the character you want. Also because of this restriction it frequently has issues coming up with unique characters because of the constraints of race and classes, it wants to just always give the most basic answer.
I feel like after the last couple updates Franz has been reprogrammed to give less effort into responses. I have to practically beg it to give me a list of possible choices in a situation or have a character explain something in depth, but before when I started it would freely give great responses without limiting itself. This is highly annoying since if I'm at work I used to be able to get a scene going, then it could automatically play the Audio of the response and I had just enough time working to then pull my phone out after a couple of few minutes and put in another response. Now I'm basically either playing or I'm not since I constantly have to be coaxing the AI to give me info with constant nudging.
Franz has a hard time tagging characters and choosing when to not tag characters, frequently tagging characters that don't exist in the scene or are incorrect. I wish that there was some feature to get it to just not tag characters unless the character was explicitly asked to be created or exists in the system.
Oh also it has difficulties understanding the just because I'm in a party with a bunch of people and I say that I go off on my own that the party isn't following me. It's been constantly an issue, I have my party members and then I tell them to stay somewhere and that I'll be back, but because technically they're still in the system and I don't want to go through the hassle of detagging them from my party every time, they automatically somehow appear in my private scene 2 messages later.
Just a sidenote, narrative Combat needs to be fleshed out a lot more. Narrative combat In my opinion is way better than actual combat, especially and specifically when in a different universe than a standard DND universe, because how the hell do I explain the damage of a Ground slam? How do I explain the effect of a Gravity mealstrom spell? I don't want to have to make a custom attack every time I'm in combat, and a lot of the time Health won't make sense at all in different settings. I could be a level 20 sniper in Warhammer 40k, but I'm still just a guy, it doesn't make sense that I have 200 health at all in the DND system, therefore the Narrative system is by far better in most context like this. Now with this all established, the problem with the narrative combat system is that the enemies basically don't get a turn. You say what thing you do, they react, you get to say you dodge and attack again, it can't account properly for if your dodge and attack are successful simultaneously so it says that you successfully dodged and also your attack hit or miss depending on what you rolled on the attack. Sometimes it feels great and absolutely amazing, but sometimes it feels like I'm basically saying “I win and hit him” 10 times till he's dead and I win. This is why the enemy needs to have a proper turn.
I hate adventure mode. I swear every single time I have used it it either makes me a god within 10 minutes of starting any campaign or it does the opposite and makes such a brutal encounter with things beyond my comprehension and ability of my character that it's impossible for me to do anything with the scene and I feel powerless helpless and stupid. It's extremely frustrating. It's especially frustrating because I've had it work extremely well 3 different times and they were great, but besides those it's horrible, and it has a really hard time allowing the party to permanently end a threat, you'll go through some extremely horrific experience and finally kill all the ghosts or something, then as you're walking away and carting down the street somehow an army of angry revenants just appear to rock your shit, and even if you somehow beat them or get away, it'll do something like “The ghosts cling to your skin, you're now cursed and blah blah blah” basically never allowing you to finish a quest. I have to beg Franz to realize how ridiculous it is sometimes that it explicitly stated that the quest is complete and that what it's doing is against what it previously stated.
More things will probably come to mind, but that's all for right now. I hope that the devs don't see this as a petty complaint and they actually see it as useful information to make the AI better. Also I'm not sure if it's in the pipeline or not but Custom voices for characters would be awesome, but I understand that that's probably a far away goal and realistically I'd much rather have these problems fixed before new features were added.
Praying for your Success Dev team.
